At NewVista Healthcare we believe proper medication management is paramount to our patients’ success. It’s easy for patients to make significant mistakes with their medications which is why we not only prescribe medication to treat presenting symptoms but provide education and monitoring related to any prescribed medications. Our medical staff includes both psychiatry and internal medicine physicians with geriatric specialty training. They work together to provide for the physical and behavioral needs of your loved one. After conducting a comprehensive assessment, the best medication to treat the presenting symptoms will be prescribed. Education and monitoring related to medications are provided by our physicians, on-site pharmacists, and RNs.
The Importance of Medication Management
It’s important to manage medications effectively or medication errors can occur once treatment is over. Statistics show that every minute, up to three Americans call a poison control center because they have taken their medication incorrectly. Furthermore, data shows that mismanagement of medication is only increasing and that errors many times lead to hospitalization. For these reasons, we believe that teaching the necessary skills to manage medication effectively is important for our patients.
Medication Management Process within NewVista
To support positive therapeutic outcomes, assessments are conducted three times a day to ensure that symptoms and behaviors are managed with the most current information and stats.
